Welcome to AMPA

The African Maritime Pilots’ Association (AMPA) is a professional, non-profit organization, originally created in 2008 in Dakar, Senegal, by eight African members. AMPA is proud to gather currently 24 countries, all of them having access to the sea.

AMPA was born on the occasion of the first edition of the African Forum on Maritime Pilotage held on March 15-16, 2010, in Dakar. By 2012, AMPA held the first Congress on Maritime Pilotage on March 8-9 in Casablanca, Morocco.

Despite its timid start, AMPA was able to get a proper status adopted during the successful 2nd African Congress of Maritime Pilots, ACMP 2019, held on October 14-16, 2019 in Tangier, Morocco. Presently, the AMPA presidency is held by the APMPM, Morocco, and will be relayed to Côte d’Ivoire during the 3rd ACMP taking place in Abidjan, 2021.
